Your file and its fingerprint

In manual registration, PDF marking and public comparison, the file stays in your browser. We receive its SHA-256 fingerprint, size, type and the registration data you choose. Avoid personal or confidential information in public titles and references. A fingerprint is not a copy of the file, but related metadata may still be personal data.

Optional server-side analysis

The separate advanced analysis feature does send file bytes to our server. Ephemeral processing is the default; if your organisation explicitly enables retention, encrypted content is kept for its configured period. Processing and retention are distinct from the browser-only registration path. External detector processing is not enabled by default.

Accounts, security and enquiries

We use account details to provide access and respond to requests; security and usage records help prevent abuse and enforce limits. Passwords are stored as derived hashes. Recovery and confirmation links expire and are single-use. Enquiry details are visible only to the designated operator; they are not used to subscribe you to marketing.

Providers and payments

Infrastructure runs on a VPS in Germany. Resend sends transactional emails containing addresses and the information needed for each notice, never document attachments. Stripe processes payment details in its own checkout; CheckThisFile does not store full card numbers. The applicable provider contracts, international-transfer safeguards and fiscal requirements must be reviewed before a public commercial launch.

Retention and your rights

Document-content retention follows the selected policy. Registration evidence and audit history are separate and are not automatically erased when retained file bytes expire. Operational payloads and email-delivery diagnostics are cleared after 30 days; financial and usage records have separate requirements. Account closure and data-rights requests require a review of those categories, not an unconditional promise to delete all evidence.
