Register your website text

Keep a dated copy of your page text, share a verifiable version history and detect changes.

Select a page

From your page to a verifiable version

  1. Enter the page URL and the ID of the section you want to preserve.
  2. Verify control of the website by placing the supplied text file on your domain.
  3. Review the captured text and confirm that it may be published.
  4. Add the verification link to your page. Publish another version whenever you update its text.

Visitors can read the registered copy, compare versions and download the text with its signed evidence. The last automatic observation has its own date; it does not describe every visitor's live page.

Website text registration - questions

Which pages can I register?

Terms and conditions, privacy policies, offers, specifications and other public text you control. Use a public HTTPS page and an HTML section with a unique ID. The section must be present in the HTML returned by the server; JavaScript is not executed.

What does the record cover?

The extracted text of the selected section, using the published web-section-v1 profile. It excludes appearance, CSS visibility, images, link destinations and visitor-specific content. Review the preview before publishing.

Can I change an existing version?

Published text and its signed evidence remain unchanged. Publish a new version to update your page. The public history links versions and allows comparison. Automatic checks record observations; they never publish a replacement automatically.

What does the date prove?

It records when CheckThisFile captured or registered the text according to its service clock. It is not a qualified electronic timestamp or proof of when the website first published it. Domain control is a technical check, not legal identity or proof of acceptance.

How long is the text kept?

While your account remains active and, for paid access, while that access remains active. When access ends, the text becomes unavailable and maintenance removes the retained copy from the active database. Hashes, signatures and expiration metadata remain. Renewal cannot restore an expired copy. Download text and evidence beforehand; backup retention follows the privacy policy.

What are the limits?

Each page supports up to 100,000 characters, 500 lines and 256 KiB of extracted text from HTML up to 2 MiB. Free includes 5 active pages and 5 MiB of retained text; Pro 50 pages and 100 MiB; Scale 250 pages and 500 MiB. Each published version consumes one existing integrity registration. Checks are included and scheduled every six hours while access remains active.
